Rooted in Stability
"For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."
Romans 8:18 (KJV)
Have you ever felt the weight of the world on your shoulders? Does it appear as though your life has been hit by a series of unfortunate events that your only response now is ”I give up?”
Has your sense of security has been broken? All of those unfortunate events have caused you to feel unsafe and question not only your faith in yourself but your faith in God. This is a sign that your root chakra needs healing.
But, what is the root chakra? The root chakra is the first chakra in the seven chakra system. It is located at the base of your spine and deals with one's sense of physical and material security and stability. How do you know if your root chakra needs healing? Physically, root chakra blockages manifest as illnesses such as lower body pain. Emotional symptoms of a blocked root chakra can appear as feelings of uncertainty or anxiousness. Here's a personal example of how we came across an encounter that blocked our root chakra.
Towards the end of last year (pre-COVID), my family and I were faced with several leaks in our house. It seemed as if when one leak would dry, another one would appear. The leaks got to the point where we had to change the entire piping system in our home, leaving our former place of residence with holes in the wall and a clear view of the pipes. Fast forward to the beginning of this year and we are told by our landlord that we must move out for proper repairs to be implemented. This request came at the last minute, so on top of having to move out on such short notice, we also had to find another place to stay. This process proved to be quite difficult and draining.
We officially moved out and managed to get a hotel room for two weeks. Once those two weeks flew by, we were once again in need of a new place to stay. Fortunately, we were blessed to be able to stay with a family member until we were able to get back on our feet. In the beginning, this arrangement was pleasant. Until one week turned into two, two weeks turned into four, a month turned into two. After several months, we began to question whether or not, we would ever have our own space to call home. Our sense of security had been shattered. We were overcome with feelings of anxiousness and doubt.
It wasn't until fourth of July weekend where we were blessed with the news that we have found a new home and were able to move in. Our circumstances were finally changing for the better.
Now, how did we managed to heal and unblock our root chakra in this situation? We decided to meditate and leave it up to God. In our own opinion, focusing too much on the situation at hand and feeding it "nutrients" with doubt and uncertainty caused this situation to affect how we handled it. It was showing God that we didn't believe that He would turn the situation around for us.
However, if our method does not seem to work for you, here are some ways that you can heal your root chakra:
- Meditation is a great way to ground and bring back the security you lost in yourself.
- Change your diet to include food items such as beets, potatoes, spinach, etc
- Say the following root chakra mantras as many times as you can throughout the day.
- I am stable and relaxed in this moment.
- God will always provide for me.
- I am safe and secure wherever I am.
- All of my safety needs will always be met.
- I have a healthy body, a healthy mind, and an abundant life.
- I deserve and receive support whenever I need it.
