Speak Your Truth

Speak Your Truth

"Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man."

 Colossians 4:6 (KJV)

"What's wrong? Are you okay? Do you need to talk to someone?" Whenever we are asked these questions, our usual response is ”I’m fine” or ”Nothing is wrong” knowing deep down we have a lot of things we need to get off our chests. In our last blog post, we discussed how we can develop self love by healing the heart chakra. This blog post will allow us to see how the throat chakra allows us to properly communicate with others.

The throat chakra, which is the fifth chakra in the seven chakra system. It is located in the middle of our throat. The primary focus of the throat chakra deals with how we communicate. A blocked throat chakra can physically manifest as thyroid issues, sore throat, jaw pain, and hearing issues. Emotional symptoms are feelings of manipulation, anxiety, lying, and arrogance.

The saying "close mouths don't get fed" was most likely made with the throat chakra in mind. In my personal experience, I never talked about my problems or voiced what was on my mind for two reasons. I didn't want to be seen as someone who was complaining, especially over something that I viewed to be as trivial and unimportant. I also didn't want to upset the other person so I have always kept my opinions and about a situation to myself only having internal conversations.

The problem with this method is that I wasn't talking about my problems with the person I had the issue with. They didn't know how I truly felt because instead of voicing the problem, I dismissed it and kept it locked away in my mind. I had to and still am coming to terms with the fact that there is nothing wrong with stating how you feel even if it might hurt the other person. Communicating how you feel is for your benefit and peace of mind.

How do you heal your throat chakra? Here are some methods you can try out.

  1. Take a break.
  2. Express what you keep bottled up inside.
  3. Journal your thoughts ever day.
  4. Say or write these throat chakra affirmations
  • I speak my truth freely and openly.
  • I speak with honesty and communication.
  • There is nothing wrong with speaking my mind.
